Robert A. Byrd, Jr., a member of the Marquette
University 1976-1977 NCAA Basketball Championship
team, played three season for Coach Hank Raymonds
and was Hank's captain on the 1979-1980 team.
Since being the last recruit by the legendary Coach Al
McGuire, Robert has grown from his roots in Chicago,
Illinois to become a integral part of the Milwaukee
community through his social and business efforts over
the last 30 years. Utilizing the corners of 17th & State
as a base, Robert's philosophy is rooted in involving
parents in the personal and professional development
of at-risk youths throughout the Milwaukee area to give
them a strong foundation to compete in world.
Bridging The Gap; the Coach Hank Raymonds
Educational Center; the neighboring golf facility; the
countless number of people influenced, and lives
changed all stand as a testament to not only a
successful career, but a successful life on and off the
court for the man known by his friends as BYRD.
